What is a Saint?
A “saint” is someone who is recognised by the Church as one who had an extremely close relationship with God and who tried to live according to God’s Will for her/his life.
The Catholic Church believes that saints are in Heaven with God.
Your challenge is to research a saint and tell us everything you can find out about them.
- Who were they?
- What did they do?
- Where were they from?

We have been finding out about Saint Rocco.
He was born around 1340 AD in France.
He was born with a red cross mark on his chest.
He shared his money with the poor people.
He went to Italy to cure people of the plague and disease .
He also got sick and went to live in a cave. A dog bought him food to eat and helped him get better.
Later he was put in jail and was kept in a dungeon . When he died a bright blue light shone from his body.
San Rocco is the protector against the plague and all contagious diseases, we should pray to him to help cure coronavirus .

I researched St Michael. He is in heaven with God. He is an Archangel which means he is a chief angel. He defends the church and fights evil.
Morning Miss, Ruby-Mae researched Saint Vincent de Paul. We read about his life. Saint Vincent de Paul was born in France and he spent his life helping the poor people.
I researched St Madeleine (Madeleine-Sophie-Barat)
She was born in Burgundy France in 1779 before the revolution.
She was a Roman Catholic nun and founded the sacred heart society.
St. Rocco was born in 1340 in France. He was born with a red cross mark on the left side of his chest. He was devoted to God from when he was little. When he was young his parents died leaving him an orphan under the care of his uncle the Duke of Montpellier .
Soon after St Rocco shared his money with the poor and took a vow of poverty.
He dressed as a Pilgrim and left for Rome.
Italy was stricken with disease and plague and St Rocco healed and cured the people. He also got sick though and went to live in a cave. Here a dog found him and fed him bread. The dog’s owner found Rocco and took him home to his castle where he was cured.
St Rocco went home to France but the people did not know him because he looked so different.He has thrown into the dungeon because they thought he was a spy. While he was dying a blue light glowed from his body. His uncle, the Governor, visited the dungeon and saw the red cross mark and realised it was his nephew. A voice was heard announcing Rocco was in Heaven.
St Rocco is the protector against contagious disease and the plague.
We should pray to him to help cure Coronavirus.

I researched for St Peter. He was born in AD 30 and died between AD 64 and 68. He was one of the Twelve Apostles and the first leader of the early church. Peter was crucified in Rome.
Afternoon, James researched St. Vincent de Paul with his sister.
I chose to research St Michael Archangel as he is the patron Saint of Police Officers and Paramedics. He symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

My saint is St Rocco. He was born in France in 1340. He helped the poor and sick. He is the saint for the protection against contagious disease.
