Good Morning Year 6! Today we are starting our new Religious Education topic which teaches us all about Pentecost. In this topic we will learn about what happened after Jesus died on the cross.
Christians believe that the spirit of God is active in each person and in a special way in the community of believers which is the Church. The Feast of Pentecost is the celebration both of the gift of God’s Holy Spirit and the trust God places in people to be witnesses in the world.
Each of us, by the way we live our lives, the way we treat others, and by our words and actions, show if we have an attitude of service.
Often, we are especially influenced by those whose actions speak powerfully of a life of service.
Today I want us to start with two BIG QUESTIONS.
- Please read the questions below
- Think about your answers
- Discuss the questions with your family
- Can you make a link to Scripture?
- Write your answers below
The Big Questions:
1. Who inspires you? Can you explain why? This may be someone famous, someone from the Bible or a family member.
2. Do you need courage to be witness?
Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy x
Mother Theresa inspires me because she was loving to everyone, and cared about them deeply.
My family inspires me because they help me in hard times. Jesus also inspires me because he helps us all follow God’s way and in tough times he is always there for us.
I think you need courage to be witness because if you are not going to do the right thing the courage inside you will tell you to not do it. If you follow God’s way you will need courage to not step on the wrong footprint.
Thank you Sergio 🙂 it is lovely to hear that your family inspire you.
My mum inspires me to be better and amazing. Everyday she teaches me something for my wellbeing, like being kind, respecting and love. She is the greatest person I know, and a great example. Plus she’s an influencer, so it’s her job to inspire people.
I have trouble understanding this second question but I while try to answer it best, I just have trouble understanding what I’m witnessing and what I need courage to witness, if that makes sense.
I think you need courage to witness. Though this question is very confusing, you just know you need courage. To witness death, you need courage to know you’ll move past it. If you witness something that scares you, you need courage to help you. I don’t really know what else to say but I just feel that this is right.
Hi Ethan 🙂 thank you for your comments. The second question is challenging but you’ve interpreted it well.
Hello everyone,
Hope you are enjoying your day and had a great Easter Holiday!
My answers:
1)I am inspired by my mum,dad and aunt as they are caring and are hardworking committed citizens.
Mainly my aunt as she works a lot helping the elderly even during this difficult time and always helps me and my siblings as well as my mum.I am very thankful for them being in my life.
2) You need courage to be a witness as you are doing Gods will and may be tempted to do wrong. You need the courage to keep commited and dedicated to your work and God.
Those are my answers and I hope everyone is safe and at home ? .
Hope to see everyone soon.
Ps.Miss Gorick if we come back in May will we start practicing for our production and will we get to choose or not?
From Maryana
Hi Maryana, I really enjoyed reading your answer. It is lovely to hear that your family inspires you!
We will definitely practise for our production-it will be a lot of hard work for everyone but we will do it!!
1) My Mum inspires me to do my work as best as I can and then she helps me get better at cooking, piano, cello and last of all, volleyball.
My Mum always tells me once I’ve done all my work really well and read it over many times to edit i can do as much fun things as I want including the things i mentioned earlier.
2) I think you need courage to be a witness as if you have lost someone very special to you, that courage inside of you will help you get through the hard times. For example; during these hard times (the corona virus) you will have courage during it to keep calm and always use your resilience to keep carrying on. (I used some ideas from Ethan’s answers and mixed them up with mine as I was finding this question quite difficult).
Well done Elly. I really enjoyed reading your response. It is lovely to hear that your mum inspires you. My mum also inspires me…maybe I should tell her!
My family and also Jesus inspires me because they help me when I am down and in hard times. Not forgetting that Jesus inspires me as he receives our prayers when we are down and he helped us follow his footsteps.
I think you need courage to be witness this is because if you are you going to make the incorrect choice your courage will tell you not to.
Thank you Javier for your thoughtful response 🙂
I am inspired by my family like my old brothers and my parents to be responsible and ready for what is coming next in my life(secondary school…),I am inspired by Jesus to follow God’s ways and to be kind, but I am also inspired by my teachers to never give up and trust your instincts.
I think you do need to have courageous to be a witness because you know that what you say might make the person suffer if they have done something wrong and you were there.Sometimes it might even Be someone of your family that has told you what they are doing and the police have asked you to be a witness. You might even be scared because your worried your doing or saying the wrong thing.
I really enjoyed reading your answer, thank you Jade 🙂
My mum inspires me to be a hard working and intelligent person, just like her. She shows me how to be a better person everyday, whether it is by helping someone in need, or by just making someone’s day better. I see my mum as a superhero, she’s always there to save the day. Jesus also inspires me as well as my mum because He shows me the light through sad and tough times and shows me how to be a better person.
I think you do need courage to be a witness, like Ethan said, if you witness death you need courage to move past it and to know that they are in heaven with God now. If you witness upset or anger, you need the courage to forgive and to love again.
That’s lovely that you see your Mum as a superhero! What a kind message-have you told your Mum!?
1. My parents inspire me because they guide me through the right pathway whenever I struggle and are always by my side. They’re like representatives of Jesus, as they always cheer me up and make me laugh if I don’t have a good day.
2. I think you need the courage to be a witness, since people might not believe you and you still need the courage in your heart to tell them that you are a witness of Jesus. Also no matter what they say you still believe and are proud to be who you are.
That’s lovely to hear Anahi-I’m so pleased that your parents inspire you!
My family inpires me :
1. They help me and always think of me . For example before Easter sunday I huet my wrist they were always there for me esspecially my brother.
2. when I got into my secondary school they encoureged me .
3. When I was younger my parents helped me to read and write better so that I have a good education.
4. When I am lonely and sad they cheer me up .
My family is like Jesus . He was always there for use just like our parents and family.
Hi Paloma 🙂 it is lovely to hear from you! It is wonderful to hear that your family inspire you.
My grandfather inspires me because he is very kind and humble. He also shows me and helps me understand or do something, and doesn’t get angry when I get something wrong. He always helps people and thinks the best in them. He is also always faithful to God and is ready to answer any question or doubt about Him.
