Good morning Class 1!
Today we will continue with your current Religious Education topic – Being Sorry
Sometimes in life we have to to make choices. This means we have to choose what to do and sometimes we make good choices – good for others and for ourselves – and sometimes we make wrong choices which make others and ourselves unhappy. When we make wrong choices, we need to show that we are sorry in some way.
Read the story below…
As you are reading, think about the questions below. You might want to answer them on the blog, or just discuss them with an adult at home.
What wrong choices did Zacchaeus make?
Why do you think he wanted to see Jesus?
How did Zacchaeus feel when Jesus told him that he was coming to his house?
How did Zacchaeus show he was really sorry for his wrong choices?
What do you think Jesus and Zacchaeus’s thoughts were during all of this?
Can you show this by writing their thoughts on the sheet provided or by drawing your own picture of Jesus and Zacchaeus which included thought bubble?
See the example sheet below:
Jesus and Zacchaeus
Perhaps Jesus was thinking about how to show Zacchaeus forgiveness?
Maybe Zacchaeus was feeling guilty? Or wanted to please Jesus?
I look forward to reading your work!

Hello Isabella!
These are very thoughtful answers to the questions, well done.
I agree, Zacchaeus must have felt lonely but hopefully now he has said sorry and shared his possessions he will not feel so lonely and learn from his mistakes.
Good morning miss Lee.
I think Zacchaeus made the wrong choice, because he took a lot of money from poor people and that’s not good, I think he regretted it and wanted to talk to Jesus but when Jesus said he was going to his house he didn’t know what was going to happen and he was sad, but when he was talking to Jesus he said he repented and was going to return half of the belongings back to the poor people that was good.
Hello Julia!
Great answers! Regret is a good word to use. Sometimes we make wrong choices but when we reflect we might regret our actions and try to fix it but saying sorry.
Great answers well done!
Dear Miss Lee,
These are my thoughts:
1) What wrong choices did Zacchaeus make?
He stole money from people by charging more taxes than he should and keeping the money for himself and not giving them back.
2) Why do you think he wanted to see Jesus?
Because he was alone and he wanted Jesus to love and forgive him.
3) How did Zacchaeus feel when Jesus told him that he was coming to his house?
Very happy and thankful.
4) How did Zacchaeus show he was really sorry for his wrong choices?
By giving the money back to the people and giving some money to the poor.
5) What do you think Jesus and Zacchaeus’s thoughts were during all of this?
I think they were both happy because Zacchaeus finally made the right choice and asked for forgiveness.
6) Can you show this by writing their thoughts on the sheet provided or by drawing your own picture of Jesus and Zacchaeus which included thought bubble?
Dear Jesus,
I’m sorry for getting all the money that I shouldn’t have and I promise that I will never do it again. My heart feels with joy to have your forgiveness and love.
Amen.
