A saint is a person who is recognised as having an exceptional degree of holiness or likeness or closeness to God.

Can you come up with some facts about a Saint?

  1. Facts about St Patrick:
    . St Patrick was born in 386 AD.
    . St Patrick died March 17th 461 AD.
    . He was the patron saint of Ireland and Nigeria.
    . He was born in a village in Roman Britain.
    . When he was 16 years old he got captured and sold into slavery in Ireland.
    . St Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland and converted many pagans to christianity.
    . Many legends also have been told that he drove all the snakes from Ireland and introduced the Holy trinity though the three -leaved Shamrock.

  3. St. Vincent de Paul was born into a peasant family on April 24, 1581, in Southwestern France. He studied theology at the University of Toulouse, and then was ordained a priest at the age of 19, and completed his studies 4 years later. He escaped the dull village life of Southern France and went to Paris. In Paris, St. Vincent learnt that helping others was more important than helping himself. He helped those who were on prison ships and made them feel more comfortable.

  5. – St Francis was born in Italy [ Assisi ] 1181 and lived to 1226.
    -St Francis fought in battle ,Assisi against Perugia.
    – He got captured and went to jail for ransom.
    – While he was in jail God spoke to him and changed St Francis.
    – From then on he devoted his life to God and lived in poverty.
    – After he died he became the patron saint of animals and the environment because he liked them.

  7. – Saint Cecilia was born in 200 AD, Rome.
    – Saint Cecilia’s heart grew close to God.
    – She grew beautifully in the virtues of hope, humility, purity,faith and charity.
    – Saint Cecilia made a vow of virginity at young age as she wanted to devote herself completely in God and Jesus.
    – She was the patron saint of music as when she died, she sang to God.
    – Saint Cecilia loved to sing to people to make them happy, whether they were rich or poor, young or old.
    – When she was forced to marry Saint Valerian , Saint Cecilia heard heavenly music in her heart.
    – Her feast day is on the 22nd November.
    – She died on the 22nd November 230 AD.

    The saint that I was researching was Saint Andrew
    Did you know that Saint Andrew was not just the patron Saint of Scotland he was the patron Saint of Greece, Russia , Italy and Barbados.
    Saint Andrew was Jesus’ first disciple.
    Saint Andrew was crucified on an x shaped cross
    Saint Andrew was born between AD5 and AD10 and died on 30 November.

    I choose Saint Matthew !

    Matthieu the Apostle , also known as Levi , was , according The New Testament , one of the twelve apostles of Jesus .
    He was born in Nazareth , Israel ( date of birth unknown ) ,died in 74 AD and was buried in Salerno Cathedral , Italy .
    Matthew authored the first Gospel of the Bible’s New Testament , now known of the Gospel of Matthew Matthew is the patron saint of tax collectors and accountants.
    The Feast of St. Matthew is annually celebrated on September 21.Aug 5, 2019 .
    According to tradition, the saint was killed on the orders of the king of Ethiopia while celebrating Mass at the altar.
