Our new Science topic this term is ‘Plants.’ We will discover important parts of plants and learn about their life cycle.
Let’s learn more about plants…
1.Watch this video which tells us about what a plant is
2.Watch this video explaining how plants are living things
3.Watch and listen to this fun song about what plants need to grow
Task 1
Draw and label your own plant (complete this in your yellow homework book). Use the picture above to help you draw each correct part. Can you remember the features from the videos you watched? You might even like to label more parts of the plant.
Task 2
Make your own poster about what plants need to be able to grow to help someone care for their plant.
This video will give you all of the important information to help you.
You can include headings, subheadings and pictures – don’t forget to label your drawings.
You may like to send a picture of your poster and I will upload them to the blog.
I’ve been growing apples! And my little brother planted a sunflower! We have lots of plants in our apartment!
Wow Clemence, you will have to let us know how your plants are growing! Well done on completing both tasks! Your poster is very bright and clear, with important information 🙂 You have labelled your plant correctly.
Hello Miss Jones
Unfortunately again I couldn’t watch the videos on BBC but i looked at other things on internet.
This task was really fun ? I really liked it.
Where I am in Roquebrune Cap Martin in the South of France there are cactus ? everywhere you go. In our garden we have some and also some little purple flowers that we grow every year. Did you know that there is a plant called Penelope ? It’s a rose and my Granny has some in her garden.
I have sent you my poster to put on the blog.
My mom loves orchids and my grandma plants tulips and fluffy peonies in her garden.
Thanks Alex, tulips are lovely! I have some pink ones in my flat at the moment 🙂
This was fun ! I really enjoyed it ! Thank you ?

We planted onions, potatoes and even an artichoke plant when we started homeschool.
We even grew a lettuce from a cut off part. It grew in just water, it was fun to watch.
Hi Sebastian, thanks for the photo’s! Wow you’ve been busy at home growing lots of plans! Have you eaten any of the vegetables yet? This sounds so interesting, thanks for your labelled plant too! 🙂
At home we have been growing radish, parsley, peppers, carrots and some flowers. we got the seeds and soil from M&S. Our radish is really big. ?
Wow, sounds great Holly! Have you been looking after them carefully? 🙂
Hi Miss I have a Jade plant but for short its a money tree and some people think its good luck .
Hi Chloe K, I’ve heard of those! What does it look like?
At home I have a white Orchid and once when it was sunny
outside, the Orchid branch came from behind the curtains in order to get even more sunshine. White orchids have an air of pristine beauty that makes it easier to appreciate from the form of the flower rather than being bowled over by colour in nature.
Thanks for sharing about your orchid Matthias. Orchids are simple and delicate, you’ve described it well 🙂
Hello Miss Jones,
I have done a picture of a rainbow tulip and labelled it. I have sent it in.
Lovely flower Ophelia, well done for labelling the parts correctly 🙂

Lovely to read about all your plants, Year 3! I have planted some Nasturtiums (such colourful flowers, and you can eat them too!) and they are loving this weather.
We have an aloe vera plant in the house. My mum uses the leaves to put on her hair and skin.
