  1. Me and my friends were walking to a train station. While we were walking we had a conversation about the caution sign ahead of us. We were heading to a train station to get a train to Leeds to have a celebration. When we were on the train my friend asked me what food might we have at the celebration? I told him that there would be cake and he had a great reaction.

Great use of this week’s spelling words Dylan!

  3. Mrs Avdiu says:

Excellent sentences and great use of the spelling words. Which word did you find trickiest to learn?

  4. Hi everyone it’s Angieli, how is everyone doing? For the past few days since Monday, me and my brother have been doing our work from school and some extra. After we finish our school work, me and my brother help clean the house and also help my mum to cook dinner.

Hope everyone stays safe and stays at home!

  5. Mrs Avdiu says:

That sounds great Angieli! Please have a look at some of the other blog posts and we look forward to seeing your responses 🙂

  6. “Why don’t we build a theme park in near the playground?”asked Thomas as he walked to his sister’s university graduation celebration. “Well that’s a good idea, but won’t it violate all the nature conservation laws,” replied his friend John. “Ok I just thought it would be cool to have one close by.” The friends kept walking before they got to the station where John turned left. In the station Thomas saw his reflection on the floor but didn’t think anything about it until he saw the caution sign…

  7. Mrs Avdiu says:

Wow you’re a fantastic author Zavan. Keep up the good work!

  8. Ms Robertson says:

…On closer examination, the caution sign pointed the boys into another direction, “That was close!” said Thomas, as he hugged John with great affection, in relation to the near miss on the platform-station. Thomas continued the conversation of the description and composition of art work that would be in circulation at his sisters graduation. Judging Johns reaction, Thomas knew this was going to be a great evening.

  9. Ms Robertson says:

    HI Angieli

  11. Hi! I hope everyone is well

At the station, Emily asked for the direction to the London Eye. “Good question, we should turn right and cross the bridge” answered her dad. Emily had always been interested in the London Eye ever since her dad had outlined to her a description of it. The whole family (including the dog) were going to have a celebration there as Emily’s grandma was going to turn 100.

  12. Mrs Avdiu says:

    Super sentences Ayako! Well done.

  13. Hello Mrs Avdiu & Ms Robertson,
For this task I had plenty of ideas !!

The circulation of the station was full when I came . I asked a question when we were sit in the busy train . It was about the corona virus . The train went in the wrong direction . It was as fast as the lightning … it was frightening and scaring .
After a while, it suddenly stopped and lots of people fell down. An examination started to build up.

  14. Mrs Avdiu says:

Great effort Violette. Please check your tenses (sit). Also, check your spelling (scaring – scary). What do you mean by ‘an examination started to build up’? Have a re-read and check that it makes sense when you read it out loud.

  15. Thank you Mrs Avdiu I really enjoyed this work and I got a bit carried away !

Splash! She had stepped into a puddle, right outside the entrance to the train station. The girl looked into the puddle, she saw the distorted reflection of the moon. Emma felt she was being watched, she changed direction, went into a dark alleyway looking fruitlessly for the street where the celebration was held. Her heart beat as loud as a drum when she heard a sudden rumble in the street and the endless sound of conversation that seemed to follow her every move. One question and one question only flickered in her mind like the flame of a candle teased by the wind: where am I? Emma’s friend, Matthew, had given her a clear description of where she needed to be. He was holding a birthday party.
Emma did not know where she was going and on closer examination she realised she’d been retracing her steps which she’d first made an hour ago. Bang!Boom! “Where are you, Emma? Come on out. Don’t be afraid…”, she heard a voice calling over from some place along the street. In a cold sweat, her head swiftly turned, she scanned the darkness unable to place the disembodied voice. She felt an uneasy blanket of darkness creeping in on her. Laughing awkwardly at her horrified reaction, as if to reassure herself, she felt a cold finger prod her shoulder. She felt her body sprint into a mad rush, as if she were running for her life.
Panting and out of breath, she slammed her fists on the nearest door. Music filled the air, together with familiar voices; she was at the party! When her friend Julia opened the door, she felt a wave of relief wash over her as she realised that it was Julia who had chased her ! And then, all of a sudden it dawned on her: if her friend Julia had been inside, waiting for her, who had been calling her and chasing her on the dark streets?

  16. Mrs Avdiu says:

Wow! I love your use of rhetorical questioning and the suspense you created throughout. What a fantastic ending too. I’m very proud we have such brilliant authors in Year 5 🙂

  17. Yesterday Jake went to the train station and saw a caution sign, so he told his little brother Ben to be careful the floor is wet. Ben thought it was funny that he could see himself on the floor, I said that’s what people call a reflection. I felt good to teach my brother something. When we got onto the train me and my brother talked about the celebration we are going to have when we get home!

  18. Mrs Avdiu says:

Hi Iggy! Thank you for sharing your wonderful sentences. Check your use of comma and ask yourself if they can be replaced by a full stop or semi colon.
‘Me and my brother’ or ‘my brother and I’? Please proofread and see if you can improve the grammar and punctuation 🙂

Can you tell me which blog post it is on and I will have another look?

  21.
