Good Morning Year 2!
As you know, our new topic is all about SUPERHEROES! I would like us to start with a BIG QUESTION.
Remember, these questions don’t always have a simple answer. You might have to do some thinking and give reasons for your answer.
Today’s question is:
What does it mean to be a hero?
Try to think about:
-
The qualities a hero might need and why
-
Any examples of heroes you know and what they did
-
What values and beliefs a hero might want to uphold
Try and read other people’s suggestions and see if you want to agree or add anything to what they have said.
I’m looking forward to reading your ideas!Click here for a printable version of this blog: Big Question Blog printable
A hero is someone who saves people’s lives and always puts other people first.
Jack’s mother is an example of a superhero, because she works as a nurse and is risking her life during Coronavirus pandemic.
Great answer Kristian! I agree, I think if you always put other people before yourself, then you’re a hero.
A super hero needs to be strong, smart and brave to save people .I think Neil Armstrong is a super hero because he was the first man on the moon. Police , firefighters and hospital people are too because they save lives.
Heros have to believe in good.
My Mum is a super hero.
Well done Jack, you’ve thought of so many good examples of different types of heroes.
Good morning Year 2. We are all superheroes in different ways. Especially the people who are caring for the sick and helping one another at this sad time.
A hero is someone who helps other people (for example Mary Seacole) and goes the extra mile.
You’re right, they do always go the extra mile and do that bit extra to help others.
Morning Year 2. Yes I agree with Mrs O’Neill. We are all, or can be, superheroes in our own way. People who are not brave, even scared but nevertheless go on to do heroic acts are my superheroes. They show lots of courage.
A hero is someone who helps people to get along and also helps people who are very ill and don’t think only about themselves.
My imaginary super hero is wonder woman and my real super hero is my mum. I like wonder woman because she uses her super powers on people who are ill and she jumps very high on top of buildings and she fights villains.
I think my mum is a super hero because she helps me to get up when I fell over and also to do creative work so I get better in making fun things. She also helps me with my homework and buys me things and gives me a lot of love and cuddles when I am sad.
I think parents are superheroes too! They always try their best to look after us and put us before them! I’m glad you have a superhero at home looking after you!
Heroes are people who help others. If you get LOADS of credit, heroes don’t boast, they continue being a hero, sometimes without even noticing. They change the world, our education, our streets, our music, our food and drink, and most importantly, our tacos (I made that one up).
I like your comment Rex that heroes don’t boast and in fact can be heroes without even noticing that they are. They are the kind of heroes I like.
You’re right, they definitely don’t boast. (And tacos are delicious…!)
A hero means a person who can save others like the doctor’s ??⚕️ because they are trying to help people who are sick . Super heroes have to be clever so they know what they are doing to save people they also have to be brave because if you are a firefighter???or soldier you need to brave with fire ? or your enemies weapons ? and you need to fight. Everyone can be a hero in different ways.
I completely agree. Everyone can be a hero in their own way, we all have something in us that makes us a hero, we just have to try.
Dear Miss Carruthers,
A superhero needs to be strong and brave. So they can help and save other people in need. For example at the moment doctors and nurses who work hard in the hospital are superheroes. Superheroes always care about other people more than themself.
You’re right, the doctors and nurses are superheroes at the moment.
A superhero is someone who will save the day.
1. A freezing power because then some heroes will make the villain freeze and stop hurting people.
2. The police because they protect people. If a robber was stealing money then the cops will give it back.
3. Honest, serious and truthful
Protection is very important and the police do an excellent job of looking after us.
A hero is a person who is kind, saves lives and listens to others. A hero is brave, bold, smart, wise and finds out new things and risks their lives to help others. Scientists are heroes because they discover new medicines and formulas to improve our lives.
So many excellent hero qualities! Well done!
Dear Miss Carruthers,
I made up my own superhero and its name is Aqua.
Aqua’a pet is a dolphin called Wave. Aqua is a mermaid, her special skill is stirring the water. By making a code, she can call all her underwater friends. She can also hide very well. When she changes feelings, her tail changes colour.
She has a bracelet, so she can change into a human every time she hears someone screaming and asking for help.
Aqua is very brave. When she is a human, she can fly and become invisible. These are her superpowers.
I’m so glad you chose to make your superhero brave and that she helps others. These are important characteristics.
Superheroes are friendly kind people and help people in need. Superman saves lives and doctors save lives as well. Doctors and nurses are like superheroes because they always care for people more than themselves
Yes Gabi I agree with you. Doctors and nurses are my superheroes too. They put others before themselves.
Hi Sophia has written in her book, I’ll send it over .
I hope the doctors look after your Grandma really well.
Yes I do too Sophia. I’m sure your Grandma is being looked after really well.
A superhero is someone who gives good example and does good actions for other people. It can be a real person or a made up character like in the cartoons.(Emilia)
A superhero is a very special person who helps other people and save their life. Sometimes he need to fight bad people too so he can save the day.( Isabella)
Well done girls. It is important to remember that they are role models and lots of people look up to them. They are very special indeed.
Dear Miss Carruthers,
A Super hero ?♀️ is kind, nice and helpful to everyone and saves the day. To be a hero you need to be brave.
A doctor is a hero because she helps people who feel poorly and ill.
Doctors really are superheroes.
A superhero is a person who helps other people and people who change the world for e.g. Marie Curie who discovered two new Elements called polonium and radium with her husband. Elements are the things the world is made out of. There are lots.
An excellent example, well done.
I agree , super heroes save lives. I agree with Jack that they have to be strong and smart so they can beat the bad guy.
I like Ironman because he stopped Thanos the mad titan. Super heroes should believe in goodness and protecting others.
Yes they really do believe in goodness and making the world a better place. Well done for reading through the other children’s comments. I agree with Jack as well!
Super heroes are people who help others before themselves. Superheroes can feel scared but they carry on helping people. All the soldiers who fought in the war are Superheroes! Animals can also be superheroes because they risk their lives helping people. Animals are used in the army to help soldiers look for explosives and in the police force to catch baddies.
You’re right Vincent, some animals are incredibly brave and there are lots of stories of animals saving people in war or pets trying to help their owners.
Yes I agree with you Vincent. Soldiers must feel very scared at war but they show courage and carry on.
