Good Morning everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Easter Weekend.
Today is Day 1 in Wellbeing Week and our focus is to keep learning!
At all times, but especially while we are going through this strange time, it is important that we keep learning. Learning engages our brains, helps boosts our self esteem, gives us a sense of purpose and something that we can be proud of! As well as being lots of fun! At school we are learning all the time, so why not use this time to learn something a bit different.
In my family, we are all trying to learn something new, whether that is a skill or taking up a new hobby. My dad is learning how to speak French, my sister is learning the guitar, my mum is making a scrapbook diary of our time in isolation (so that we can remember what we did during this historic time), my other sister is doing an online coding course and I am trying to do more baking. I tried to make some Easter bunny pancakes and some hot cross buns over Easter weekend. They took me ages but I was pleased with how they turned out!
So, my challenge to you today is to try to learn something new!
What are you going to do? Have a look at some of my suggestions below:
- learn a new language
- perfect a musical instrument – one you already play or a new one (maybe you could make an instrument out of things you find in your house)
- try a craft activity like knitting, sewing or making some jewellery for friends and family
- learn a new recipe for cooking or baking something for your family
- make a diary of your family’s time in isolation – this could be written, video, photos or drawings
- learn how to do new puzzles (whether that is jigsaw puzzles or written puzzles like Sudoku or word games)
- try to improve your drawing or painting skills. Youtube have lots of tutorials you could use
- start a writing project. You could write a short story, create a whole new book or make your own comic.
I can’t wait to hear about what you challenge yourselves to do today. Write on the blog what you decide to do and tell us how it is going. Don’t forget to send in photos so we can see and celebrate your achievements!
Good luck!
Miss Carruthers
I do lots of cooking with my mum and my little Brother! I also did yoga with my mum. Every day I go to the park and do a short walk.
I’m so glad you have been enjoying your cooking as well Louise! It sounds like you have been busy. Are you learning new poses in yoga?
I love to cook but I don’t do it much but I am going to do more whilst the isolation. Everyday I go on a short walk with my dad or mum and I feed the baby ducklings. Also I have a bike but I never really get to ride it so now I am learning new tricks on it. I also enjoy drawing and colouring with my mum and we sometimes play new family games.
I’m glad you’re using this time Claudia to do more cooking and learn new tricks on your bike. Be careful that you don’t hurt yourself! What has been your favourite new game to play with your family?
Wow Miss Carruthers, your hot cross buns look amazing! I’ve been doing a little bit of gardening which I have been enjoying!
I agree with you Miss Jones. Your baking looks amazing
Miss Carruthers. You should be an expert baker when we get back to school so I’m looking forward to tasting some of your cooking in the staff room! I’m trying to learn a new language – wish me luck.
Hello Miss Carruthers, I love your Easter bunny pancakes, so cute! I have been practising my handwriting as there is always room for improvement…
Miss Carruthers, your hot cross buns look delicious! May we please have the recipe? 🙂
