Happy World Book Day everyone!
This year we are celebrating WBD remotely, and the whole school is dressing up as the different coloured crayon’s from Drew Daywalt’s ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’!
Daywalt’s book is all about the importance of team work and expressing our feelings. When we feel things are unfair or we are frustrated with how others treat us we want to make our voices heard. That is exactly what the crayons did to help Duncan realise that he loved all of the colours equally and he needed each one to make the most brilliant and colourful picture.
Our St. Vincent’s family is just like this too-each one of you is extremely special and you all have an important part to play to make our school vibrant and full of colour! We miss you all dearly and can’t wait to have everyone back in class again.

World Book Day is an annual celebration of all things reading!
The World Book Day website: https://www.worldbookday.com/ has so many great videos, games and information about books and authors! It’s a really fantastic place to find inspiration for your next new favourite read or some fun activities to do with your family. There are also some fantastic FREE audio books for you to listen to!
As an extra challenge why not have a go at one of these other exciting reading activities to make the most of this incredible day:
- Find the most unusual place to read a book at snap a photo
- Join the young readers story club to learn all about friendship https://literacytrust.org.uk/programmes/young-readers-programme/young-readers-story-club/
- Read some stories from around the world (and in other languages!) https://worldstories.org.uk/
- Familiarise yourself with Romeo and Juliet-our play which we will be studying throughout our Shakespeare project this summer term! https://kids.kiddle.co/Romeo_and_Juliet
I hope you enjoy today and I can’t wait to catch up about all of the wonderful things you are going to get up to during our live session!
Enjoy everyone,
Mr. Kersys 🙂
I love World Book Day because you can get a book and keep it and read it all day and sometimes they are free!!
