It has been so wonderful to welcome Class 5 back into school! I hope you all enjoyed the Easter holidays!
This week we have started a new book called The Odyssey.
The story follows the Ancient Greek hero Odysseus, king of Ithaca, and his journey home after the Trojan War. In our lessons we learnt all about the Trojan War; what caused it and how it ended.
We learnt that The Odyssey was originally a poem written by Homer, an Ancient Greek writer. We know that as the story of Odysseus has been translated and retold over time, parts of it have changed and been adapted.
To familiarise ourselves with the story, we created freeze frames in small groups to retell the key parts of the story so far. We have also looked at the language from the text and some of the different characters.
We are excited to read more of the story next week!
