This afternoon the whole school went to St. James’s Church for a special Ash Wednesday Service. Father Philip spoke to us about this important time of year and blessed our Lenten promises.
We then all received the ashes on our foreheads with the words, “Remember that you belong to Jesus”.
If you want to continue thinking about Ash Wednesday and preparing for Lent at home, please read the Wednesday Word Holiday Special: LENT and there are some lovely ideas here.
Today’s Ash Wednesday service was really important as it marked the first day of Lent. I also enjoyed making my Lenten Promise at school. I’m going to try very hard to follow it and also to put as much of my own money in our CCS collection book! Thank you to Miss Walsh, Miss Coleman, Mr Kersys and Father Philip for making the cross on our foreheads with ash and to all the parents who came to the service.

During Lent I made a Lent promise and I am going to try and succeed it and continue to do my promise for 40 days and 40 nights.
