In Year 6, our Religious Education topic for Advent is ‘Expectations’. We learned that Advent means coming or arrival. It reminds us of the anticipation and expectation over hundreds of years by the people of Israel for their Messiah and Promised One – Emmanuel (God with us).
We wait in expectation of the coming of Jesus, God made human, God with us, because God is always faithful and loving and keeps promises.
We found and read 1 Corinthians 16: 13-14 in the Bible, which outlines the expectations for Christians in Advent.
We wrote a guide for Christians during Advent based on Pauls advice to the Corinthians.
Then, we wrote our own Advent prayers, to help us to prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas, inspired by the scripture.
