In our Computing lessons this term, we have been learning all about algorithms.
Algorithms are a set of instructions that computers use. We looked at different types of instructions that we already use in real life. Last week we looked at a recipe and realised how important it is for the instructions to be in order, otherwise the food wouldn’t taste very nice!
Today we tried to come up with clear instructions to tell our robot partner how to put a jumper on and how to take a shoe off. It was quite tricky because the robot partner didn’t know what “take your shoe off” meant! So we had to be really clear about where to put your hand and which direction to pull or push.
After a few goes, we worked out the best instructions to give and we were all able to have our robot partner follow our algorithm.
Very interesting activity. The children’s had a good time putting their jumpers on! 😊 Thank you for sharing these pics.
