In Year 2, we have been studying the book, Rosie Revere, Engineer.
We have been inspired by this book, and have enjoyed reading and hearing the poetry that is used within it. We think that Rosie is an intelligent, enthusiastic girl who shows great resilience. We have used this text to create character descriptions, trying our best to include expanded noun phrases. We have also been learning about apostrophes and their use. We learnt that there are two ways that you can use an apostrophe – for possession, and for contractions. Once we learnt about these, we got up and sung along to a song that helped us to understand a little more about contractions. This was a fun way to explore our learning further!
We then looked closer at part of the text, trying to find examples of apostrophes. We then discussed with our learning partners about which use they had, and began to explain how we knew that they were either possessive apostrophes or contractions.
After this, we spent some time organising a selection of words into the correct spaces, and some of us even tried to think of our own! Since we have learnt about apostrophes, we have been trying to spot them where we can!
Well done for such fantastic work, Year 2! Apostrophes can be quite tricky to understand, but you’ve done so well!
Thank you teachers for making grammar fun. All the children look so happy. Great work year 2!
Thank you to Miss Forster Adams and team for the many updates you put on the website. It is fantastic to get to know what the children are focusing on. We can see how much fun they have!
