After our lunch of pizza, we had a bit of free time to play in the fields. Then we got ourselves ready for our afternoon in the woods.

Gail took us through the Sayers Croft woods and wanted us to use our senses as much as possible to explore the woods in a different way.

We started by using a mirror to find out how a mouse or a hawk sees things. It was a very different way to see the world and we noticed a lot much!

Then we walked further into the woods and played a game. We were given a card with adjectives and had to find two items in the woods that matched the description. We then showed the items and our friends had to guess the words. We then collected lots of items to show all the colours in the woods.

Then we walked further and sat by the stream. Here we did a sound trail and had to sit silently to see what we could hear. We were amazed to hear all the different bird songs so loudly. We walked through the woods and Gail showed us that they had some archaeologists who had found an original Roman road that ran through Sayers Croft. It was amazing to see a real Roman road from thousands of years ago.

After this, we had our maze and blindfold trail. This involved us working with our partners and guiding them around the trail. Some of us were better at giving instructions than others though! We then completed the maze challenge and collected all the map symbols before following the instructions to add them to the map.

We’re off for a swim before dinner and then have our nighttime reflector walk this evening. We can’t wait!

We loved the blindfold trail where we blindfolded our partners and guided them through an obstacle course.

  6. The blindfold trail was hilarious. When I was leading my partner, Grace, every time I forgot to tell her there was a post, or she bumped into Maria in front, she freaked out and cried, Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

  7. This activity was so much fun. It was so scary being blindfolded but I trusted L.

  8. This was so fun. We could not see a thing and the tunnel was so scary because it feels like you’re trapped.
