Year 4 have spent the week thinking about and creating lasting changes to show that we are united against bullying, following the theme of national anti-bullying week 2020.
We have participated in a range of activities to help us recognise the lasting impacts that bullying can have. We began the week by reading the Gospel about Jairus and Jesus. Jairus’ daughter was extremely ill and eventually died. Jesus told everyone she had been sleeping but the people mocked Jesus and laughed at him. Jesus then asked Jairus’ daughter to wake up and she began to get up from her bed. This Gospel carries an important message that we should seek to help and comfort those who are doing good, rather than hurting and ridiculing them.
On Monday we designed some odd socks in honour of Odd Socks day! You can find some pictures here.
Year 4 also really enjoyed watching a special assembly kindly recorded by Duggie Dug Dug who taught us about individuality through the magic of bubbles and science experiments! We learnt a crucial lesson about feeling brave to showcase our uniqueness and celebrating it!
On Wednesday some children led a paired worship session with Reception class. Together we listened to a reading of Psalm 139. It is a really beautiful Psalm all about each of us being created by God in our mother’s womb in the most perfect and complete way.
Lastly, on Friday we created a pledge on some puzzle pieces to show that we are united against bullying. Each person in our lovely school has a part to play in preventing bullying and stand up against unkind actions. The puzzle pieces remind us that we are each one small part in the puzzle of our school, but together we make up a united team.
Well done Year 4 for all of your great work and discussions this week!
