Today we welcomed Belinda, from 3BM, back to school to speak to us about how to stay safe online.
Belinda led a parent workshop and updated all parents on how to ensure there children are safe and kind online. We discussed the risks that different types of online challenges could present and what to do if children are playing games with children they don’t know in real life. Please click here for the online safety links shared in the meeting. Belinda spoke about this recent blog which gives parents advice on how to talk to children about what they are doing and seeing online.
Belinda then led two special assemblies, one for KS2 and one for KS1 & EYFS. In these, we spoke about how the way we behave online should be the same as we do in real life. This means that we should be kind to everyone (including using kind words), make sure that no one is left out of anything intentionally and if anything upsets us or makes us feel uncomfortable, then we should TAG (tell a grown up). KS2 watched this video with showed us how something can be funny at first, but then it can become unkind and that is when we must TAG!
Online Safety is something we are always trying to stay up to date with. There are regular updates in the monthly newsletters and we send out emails in response to any issues we know about in school. Please have a look at this parent guide from National Online Safety, which they have made for Anti-Bullying Week, to give more tips for parents for how to combat online bullying.
Belinda has come today and talked to us about how to be safe when your online,we should tell a adult if something bad happens. We should not tell anyone our personal details that belong to us . This is a way to keep us safe.
Thank you to Belinda for teaching us all about online safety. I found this lesson very useful and the information was useful too as it will help everyone in life when they are older or now.
