We have been studying Ancient Greek architecture during our art classes this term.
We learned about Robert Smirke, designer of the facade of the British Museum, and how he took inspiration from Ancient Greece. Ancient Greek architecture inspired many famous artists and architects and we can still see their influence all around us!
We studied some key features of Greek buildings. Did you know that their buildings are generally rectangular in shape? Theatres are the exception and tend to be semi-circular. They also contain rows of columns on one to four sides of the buildings.
After our studies, we sketched our own buildings inspired by Ancient Greece. Let us know what you think of our artwork!
