Year 5 were very lucky to have Katie and Hannah (professional architects) come into class and speak about the amazing buildings and structures that we have all around the world. This was to build on our workshop before half term where we explored the many pieces of beautiful architecture in Marylebone.
In the creativity room, Year 5 even had the opportunity to redesign our local area in a way that would be fun and suitable for children! They used a huge print out map of Marylebone and began to make altercations to the landscape. Their wonderful ideas included a candy cane lane, a giant slide from the school to the park, and even an original Reuben tower. Year 5 will be constructing this in their final workshop using recycled materials such as car tunnels made out of Pringles tubes and skyscrapers made from bottles and cartons.
We encourage Year 5 to bring in recyclable materials such as these (cardboard, cereal boxes, clean and empty cartons, newspaper, old bottles etc…) to school on Thursday (11th November) in order to build their dream city!
