Today, we have had a wonderful day of Art in Class 6.
In the morning, we went to the Wallace Collection to take part in a ‘Landscapes and Seascapes’ workshop. We looked closely at various landscapes and seascapes from the collection and had the chance to do some sketching to create landscapes and seascapes of our own.
We were very fortunate that Dr Xavier Bray, the director of the Wallace Collection, led part of the session today. He came to talk to us about the two Canaletto paintings that Paolo chose as his favourite exhibits when he was a young curator at the Wallace Collection. This was a very special way to honour our beloved Paolo and we are so grateful to his parents and Dr Bray for making this possible for us.
In the afternoon, Mr Allan from Queen’s College School came to lead a printing workshop for Year 6 in school. We looked closely at images from nature and then created printing blocks using or own ideas inspired by the images. Mr Allan taught us how to combine colours, using printing inks, and we were all able to create a number of unique prints. Next week, he is coming back to teach us how to bulid up more colour onto our finished prints.
Year 6 had a great day and a fantastic start to St. Vincent’s Art fortnight!
This was really fun, thank you for organising it!
