Today Year 1 were lucky enough to experience an art workshop set up by the National Gallery, this is a workshop called faces and places. The workshop allowed the children to be so creative and produce some outstanding portraits.
The workshop began with the children learning about what a portrait is and identifying key features of a portrait. The children also learnt all about side profiles and were able use their sense of touch to create some very impressive self portraits of their side profiles! The children also had the opportunity to create portraits of a partner. They spent some time looking at one another and then got to work creating their wonderful pieces of art. The children then had the chance to create outlines with pens and do some colouring in.
This was an amazing opportunity which allowed the children to experience a real artists drawings rather than Miss McCarrys! The children worked so very hard and showed off some very impressive art skills. Well done Year 1, you were fantatsic.
