For art week this week Year 1 have been looking at the medium of printing! We did a lesson on printing is class using sponges and fruit, and then We were lucky enough to have Kirsty from the October Gallery come in to run a workshop about ways we can print to create artworks.
The theme of our art week is celebrating Britain, and so Year 1 was focusing on the national flowers of each country in Great Britain. We know the rose represents England, the thistle represents Scotland, the daffodil represent Wales and the shamrock represents Northern Ireland. We looked at how to sketch these flowers, and did a practice one. Next we rolled paint onto card and then used cue tips to paint in our flowers. We then pressed this paper onto our card to create our prints.
We created some beautiful artworks and are busy putting them together for our class piece for the auction! We hope you love it!
This looks really fun (and messy)! Your flowers all look beautiful.
