In Year 6, we have been learning about the life and work of Yinka Shonibare, a British-Nigerian artist, who has overcome disability to become a highly acclaimed artist, known for a variety of artistic techniques. We focussed on his collage work as inspiration for our own art work, in particular his piece called ‘Line Painting’.
We learned that Yinka Shonibare often chooses to use African fabrics for his mixed media work so we designed our own patterns and created our own fabrics influenced by African fabrics using cloth, water colours, fabric pens and crayons
Inspired by the work of Yinka Shonibare, we have created our own collages. Using the fabrics which we designed and painted, we created these fantastic artworks with the theme of ‘Identity’.
