Today we made houses during our DT lesson to finish off our Amazing Americas topic!
We started by having a discussion about the houses in South America. We brainstormed what they may need to be able to survive the extreme weather. After, we talked about the purpose of cladding and how it adds insulation and protects homes from bad weather.
Each group had clay, wooden planks, popsicle sticks, paper plates and tape to work with. Everyone needed to work as a team with their table group to come up with a plan and then begin building. We saw some wonderful collaboration and made incredible houses.
When we come back from break, we will test each house to see how it will hold up against the weather. We will use a spray bottle to imitate rain and a fan to imitate wind. Which house do you think will stand the test?
