Class 5 travelled back in time in Dr Who’s tardis to learn how the Britons felt about the Romans and why the A-Team (otherwise known as the Anglo-Saxons) settled in Britain. Many farmers and warriors from Denmark, Holland and North Germany were paid to come to Britain by Kings to help them defeat the rebellious Celts and Picts.
We then shared the tale of Beowulf, a hero for all Anglo-Saxons. Class 5 had being reading the Tale in English and acted out a brief version of Beowulf’s battles with Grendel and his mother, who both terrorised King Hrothgar’s kingdom.
The children worked extremely hard and enjoyed sharing their learning with the whole school and their parents in assembly this morning.
