This morning, our school Speech and Language therapist spoke to parents during our coffee morning. Sandy works for the local authority and supports the children in our school with their speech and communication needs.
She shared different games that parents can play at home to support children’s attention and understanding. Some children find it hard to communicate for many reasons and Sandy shared the best ways to model language to your children. The most important thing that adults can do to support children’s language is to speak to children and expose them to a range of vocabulary as well as reading with children.
Sandy also shared the Communication Hub which has lots of excellent resources for parents. If you would like to refer your child, please speak to your GP and they can make the referral.
If you have any questions, please come and speak to Miss Carruthers.
