In computing this term we have started to investigate what a computing system is and how networks are created.
We looked last week at the structure of a network and saw that it was made of up of a switch and a router. These are key in helping delivering messages across the network providing the internet we have today and use so much in our daily life.
We have also started to look at what the internet is made up of and explored the difference between a website (hosts all the webpages) and a webpage (this is a single page with information). We then had to go onto 3 different websites and write down all the things that we could find on them. This meant typing in the correct website address starting with www (world wide web). We even visited the St Vincent’s school website and looked at all the fun things going on in the other year groups.
Well done Year 4 on a superb computing lesson, you are all computer wizards!
Great work Year 4 and I’m pleased to see you using the St. Vincent’s website for your research. It’s my favourite!
Good job year four, you looked like you had a lot of fun.
It was so fun in computing.
Computing is the best.
I loved doing computing and going on lots of different websites.
I also loved learning about how messages can transfer with the switch.
Computing is great! You’re lucky.
All of the computing lessons are fun, but this one was especially brilliant!
I would like to learn about how the computing system works? Amazing how you can learn so many nice things from the different child friendly websites like Kiddle.
We learnt about the router and how messages are passed on to each other. We played this game where we got to write a message to our friends and the teacher chose a router in our group and we would pass them to the router and the router would pass them to our friends
I personally thought that this lesson was fun
This was so fun. Why can’t we do computing every morning!?
This sounds very interesting Year 4.
I agree. It’s so fun
