In Geography we have been learning about the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We took part in a practical activity where we had to name and locate the continents and oceans. We did so well with this! We have also learnt that the Pacific ocean is the largest and deepest. It covers approximately a third of the Earth’s surface.
We have also learnt about the equator. This is an imaginary line that runs through the middle of the Earth. We looked at hot and cold areas of the world and learnt why some countries are warm all year round. We learnt about the Southern and Northern hemispheres and the North and South Poles. Our previous learning of a compass (North, East, South, West) was very useful in this lesson!
Fabulous work Year 1!
Have a look at some photos.
