Design and Technology: Weaving

For our Design and Technology project this half term, we have been learning all about weaving.

We have focused on developing the skills of cutting and joining fabric together to make a weave. It has been interesting finding out about all of the different styles of weaving that can be completed!

We have learnt about the following vocabulary in our lessons:

Weaving
Loom
Weft materials
Web

Today we began making our own weave by using card as our loom (frame). We used lots of different strips of fabric to weave. We made sure we pulled them tightly so our weave was secure.

Even though it was a little challenging at times, we all managed to remember the technique of ‘over and under’ to create our pattern.
