This afternoon Year 6 transported the parents back to WW2. As the air raid siren sounded, the children hurried their parents into our home made air raid shelter.

To distract the parents from the London bombing, the children shared their learning. They explained evacuation using their geographical knowledge of maps and map symbols, the history of the Blitz, art collages inspired by Paul Nash, ‘Make do and Mend’ DT projects, Science models using electrical circuits and clay WW2 medals. The children then shared their poems which honoured Remembrance Day.

Finally we all shared traditional WW2 food and sung songs by Doris Day and Vera Lynn.

Thank you to all the family members for coming!

Well done Year 6, you have worked hard this term!

Our new topic is freedom. Make sure you have a look at our new home learning page and comment on the blog!
