This week Year 4 have had a wonderful Enterprise Week!
We began the week by designing a company name and logo for our product, a magnetic monster peg which can be used to hold your favourite photos, pin up your homework or even a certificate! In Maths the class learnt about tallies and drew a suitable table to record the number of votes each of the top 5 design in our class received, and interpreted the data including finding the range between the highest and lowest number of votes. Here is our final winning design:
In English week looked at advertisements. We learn that they are a special type of persuasive writing and can be found almost anywhere! We looked closely at the persuasive techniques adverts use to entice their reader. We then wrote our own adverts to persuade all of the other classes to buy their own Magnetic Monster using rhetorical questions, lists of 3 and alliteration.
On Tuesday we filmed our adverts and watched each class’ advert during assembly time on Wednesday.
We were also very privileged to welcome some parents from our school family this week, who came to tell us about their jobs! We heard about what it is like to work in as a banker, and how banks operate. The class also enjoyed hearing about cyber security and how companies use cyber security teams to protect apps on the cloud!
In Maths throughout the week Year 4 worked hard on a range or two-step money problems involving addition, subtraction and multiplication! They were fantastic at working out the costs of different products and the change you would receive when paying with different notes. The class enjoyed using coins and notes in their challenges. Year 4 were brilliant at working together to find the answers to some tricky problems!
During Enterprise Week we have been thinking a lot about our learning powers…
We have reflected on how we have shown resilience, resourcefulness and reciprocity and how they have helped us to be even more successful this week by working as a team and using everything in our school and classroom to get the biggest profit!
Thank you Ms. Drury for organising such a brilliant week, we have learnt so much, and thank you to all the parents for coming to speak to us! We really appreciate it! 🙂
Fantastic work Year 4 and what a lovely way to end our first half term together!
