Today Reception were able to have First Aid training, thanks to the SVPA!
The children attended a ‘Mini First Aid’ course, they were able to watch a First Aider and practice for themselves.
The children learnt lots about how to apply a plaster, how to apply pressure on a cut or a graze and the importance of how to apply an ice pack if someone has hurt their head.
“We got plasters on each other to know how to help people!”
“Ted fell over and we helped him with a plaster and ice pack on his head.”
Then the children were able to role play making an emergency call!
“We got a phone to ring 999 if we need a Doctor.”
“We phone 999 if someone fell over and needs an ambulance”
“999 – it’s an emergency!”
Reception were told about the importance of knowing their address, so if they needed to make an emergency call they would be able to tell the operator their; name, street name and door number. If they do not know this it is important to practice!
Lastly the children were told about lying on their side if they are finding it tricky to breathe, and how to safely lie someone on their side if they needed to help them.
“We rolled on our side, it helps to breathe easier!”
Thank you to the SVPA for this very important training for the children, they learned so much and will really help to keep them safe 🙂
Well done Reception! Good to know you can act in an emergency!
This is excellent. Thank you so much for organising👏🏻
Well done reception. Great work.
Thank you SVPA for funding this first aid course. Alexandra enjoyed it so much and told me all about. It was such a pleasure to see the children with their certificates at the end of the day. Definitely a proud feeling👌
