What a lovely first week back we have had in Year 3! It has been so lovely getting to know everyone and building our classroom community together.
We started this week by creating a class charter. We looked at the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. We looked at a few different rights and discussed some that tie into our school setting. We talked about what adults and children alike can do to ensure these rights are respected for everyone.
Next, we had a marvelous time practising some of our brain breaks! These are movement breaks we can do in class to help us concentrate on our work when we are done! We’ve done Simon Says, Moosemallow Dash, Red Light Green Light, and so many more! We can’t wait to see what other brain breaks are in store for us this school year.
We also had a kickoff science lesson where we got to practise working in a group. We were put into groups of 3 and shared different roles. Our task was to use approved sites to research each part of the plant and its function. We learned so much about the stem, leaves, roots and flowers. We even sang a song about it, complete with different actions! We really impressed our teacher with how well we worked with our group members!
The first week of school was really fun!
I really liked seeing my friends back, getting to know my new teacher.
This sounds and looks like a fantastic first week. Well done Year 3! Thank you Mrs Karney and Mrs Akhtar for doing such a great job.
I really liked doing the bean brain break, it was SOOOOOOOOOOOO FUN! Can we do it again please?
I loved the first week at school. It was so fun making the hands and decorating it. I thought it was the coolest thing in the whole of year 3 so far!
BRAIN breaks are SOOOOOOOOOOO cool. I have never ever done these before if I was a teacher I would definitely remember the brain break idea !
