Green Team are working hard to tell everyone at St Vincent’s about saving energy. Did you know that every year, people across the world use more and more energy for heating, lighting and to power all the electrical appliances in our homes, schools and communities? All of this energy adds up and unfortunately, a lot of it is wasted. This is bad news for our environment! Most of the energy sources we depend on, like coal and natural gas, can’t be replaced – once we use them up, they’re gone forever. Another problem is that most forms of energy can cause pollution.
By holding a Coffee Morning for parents and leading a school assembly all about saving energy, Green Team hope that we can all try and reduce the amount of energy that we use and waste. Why not use our checklist to see if your family are energy-saving superheroes? You could also write an idea on the Green Team blog to tell us how you are trying to save energy at home and school.
Finally, we would like to make the last two weeks of November Switch Off Fortnight. If you see a light or a computer left on or a TV left on standby…then switch it off!
