This week, we have been celebrating Health and Fitness Week. We have been continuing this theme throughout many of our lessons.
On Monday, we had an educational and fun visit from Martin, the First Aider. He taught us about the importance of First Aid and what we would need to do in the event of an emergency. Thank you to the St Vincent’s Parents’ Association for giving us this important opportunity to learn lifesaving skills.
We continued the Health and Fitness fun in our Maths lessons; we learnt how to compare time in seconds. Each of us completed a range of fitness activities such as star jumps and knee taps and we timed how long it took us using a stopwatch and recorded our times. Then we compared our times by writing sentences based on our own results. We also presented data collected from our classmates and drew our own bar graphs to show the favourite fruits in Year 3.
In our English lessons this week, we have been creating our own health and fitness posters. These are to help inform people about what it means to lead a healthy balanced life. Year 3 were able to identify the key areas that we needed to inform people about:
· Mental Wellbeing
· A balanced diet
· Exercise
· Sleep and hygiene
The children then designed their own eye-catching poster!
We have had a lot of fun this week and are looking forward to celebrating our health and fitness at Sports Day in the coming week!
