This week was Health and Fitness Week and Year 4 spent the week learning how to take care of ourselves and others. We have looked at aspect of health and fitness in our English, RSE, Wellbeing and R.E. lessons.
On Monday the class had a visit from Martin, a first aid hero who taught us all about CPR, the recovery position, how to treat burns and cuts and what to do if someone if choking!
A big thank you to the SVPA for organising a first aid workshop for Year 4 and the rest of the school! It was such an amazing opportunity to learn life saving skills which we can use to help others!
In English class 4 created posters to celebrate all of the wonderful things that we can do to keep healthy:
-
Getting enough sleep
-
Eating 5 portions of fruit and veg
-
Exercising as much as we can
-
Keeping our bodies and teeth clean
-
Looking after our mental health
We share dour posters with the rest of the class!
In RSE the children discussed medicines and chemicals which might affect our bodies. We know that our bodies are created by God and we must care for them. We learnt about what drugs are, and how they can damage our bodies. Year 4 learnt that all medicines are drugs, but not all drugs are medicines. We discussed the importance of only taking medicines which are prescribed to us by a doctor or ones we buy in a pharmacy.
Well done Year 4 for all of your hard work!
It was a beautiful lesson. I liked how we did CPR on the mannequin’s chest and did a word search while waiting for the rest of them,I also liked how we learnt the recovery pose with the teddy.
