Reception had a lovely day today, all arriving in yellow clothes for #helloyellow today!
We have been reading the story ‘The Colour Monster’, a great book that categorises feelings into colours. The class love this book, and knew that the colour yellow can often represent the feeling of happiness! They really enjoyed being in their happy yellow clothes all day.
We have had a great day, talking lots about the things that make us happy, but also things that may make us sad or worry.
We shared a circle time with our ‘Worry Dog’ who Reception lovingly named Biscuit. Everyone had a chance to cuddle Biscuit, and tell him anything that makes them worried or scared, and we talked as a class about ways we can help our friends feel better about these things. Reception were very sensible and listened kindly to their friends, then we had great fun sharing all the things that make us happy! This was a great circle time and we will continue with our friend Biscuit to check in on everyones feelings, and see if there are new ways we can think of to help our friends be happy.
Reception then looked at the artisit Lowry and some of his most famous pictures. As a class we drew the people and places in our lives that make us happy, in the style of Lowry! The children used charcoals, oil pastels and wax crayons to draw their loved ones, and decorated their pictures with a mixture of sequins, glitter and tissue paper.
