In our History lesson today, we were learning about the famous Louis Braille who at the age of 15, developed a reading and writing system for the blind. This system enables blind people to read easily using their fingertips. We learnt about his life from 1809-1852 and his successes during his studies in a special school for the blind in Paris.
Louis developed his writing system from a soldier who used raised dots for ‘night writing’ in the war.
We enjoyed exploring how to read and write using Braille and create some messages for our learning partners too!
