Kidscape advice for parents and carers
The workshop was part of a project that our school has been taking part in over the past two terms. We have been involved with the Primary Bullying Intervention Training (BIT) programme which is currently being run in partnership with the national anti-bullying charity Kidscape and funded by the Department for Education.
Although St. Vincent’s does not have a particular problem with bullying we thought it would be a good opportunity for staff and pupils to learn more. Successful schools create a safe environment that prevents bullying from being a serious problem in the first place. Over 200 primary schools and 17,000 children from 9 London Boroughs have already taken part.
As part of this project, some of our teachers have received training on strategies to prevent and tackle bullying. This training is currently being shared with the rest of the staff and has enabled us to deliver specific lessons to classes to help the children improve peer relationships and increase their confidence and resilience.
We are proud to be one of the first schools in Westminster to complete this project and to have received our BIT certificate.
