Today we welcomed Kimberley from the Catholic Children’s Society who lead a special assembly to launch our Lenten Appeal. The theme of the 2020 Lenten Appeal is ‘Light Your Lenten Path.’ which is linked to ‘The God Who Speaks: The Year of the Word’, following the three themes of celebrating, living and sharing. Kimberley explained the importance of the work of the Catholic Children’s Society and told us a story showing how the money we raised last year has helped families. Today each pupil was given a collection box, an activity sheet and some parent information to help us all to light our Lenten path..
We ended assembly by saying the prayer for the Year of the Word together:
Living God,
you walk alongside us
and speak to us throughout the Scriptures.
Your Son, Jesus Christ, listens to our hopes and fears
and shows us how to live for one another.
Send us the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and minds
so that we may be your witnesses throughout the world.
Amen
