Year 3 have had lots of fun with our Science topic all about magnets!
We have learnt that metals are magnetic, which means that they are attracted to magnets. But not all metals are magnetic, only nickel, cobalt and iron. Can you try and think of a way to remember this? We thought of NIC in the lesson.
We have also learnt that magnets have poles, north and south. Two north poles repel each other and two south poles repel each other. If the poles are different, then they will attract!
We made mazes and used magnets to guide paperclips through the mazes and also came up with some inventions that use magnets. One of our inventions was having magnets in the corners of your blanket so that when you move in your sleep, you blanket doesn’t move!
I thought this was a fun activity. I hope that one day in the future we will have beds like this.
Yeah, Jack’s a genius! I had a similar idea which was a seatbelt with magnets.
I loved when we did mazes and it was fun but difficult to solve other people mazes. It was fun learning when magnet attract and repel.
