In Year 2, we are really lucky to be taking part in the Schools to Market project.
So far, we have done some planting and learned more about the vegetables that we can grow here in the United Kingdom and our Green Team have also taken part in a chutney making masterclass. Today, Rachel from School Food Matters came in to discuss marketing with us. We learned that marketing means promoting and persuading people to buy our product. Very soon, we will be going to Crockbridge Farm in Surrey to pick our own fruits and vegetables for a chutney which will then be sold at Whole Foods in Kensington.
We looked at a range of different products and discussed what we noticed about them. We saw logos, bar codes, ingredients and lots of different colours. We spoke about the fact that colourful branding is used to catch the eye of those walking past, some use a fun character to also grab attention, and others use colours such as green to promote a more healthy product. As our product will be specially made by us, we thought we should try to promote this in a little description about our product but we can’t do this just yet as we have not yet picked our produce! We worked on our drawing and practiced creating some little characters.
Soon we will be designing and creating the labels alongside our family members that join us for our Creativity Afternoon in July, as well as making our delicious chutney. We can’t wait!
This activity was fantastic. It was so much fun the jar that we passed around the table looked so yummy. I can’t wait to pick fruits and vegetables on the farm!
I really enjoyed the marketing masterclass. It was a superb new activity. I am looking forward to picking the fruits and vegetables at the Crockbrigde farm which will be used to make the most awaited chutney of year 2!😋😋
Thank you teachers for putting this activity together! I can’t wait for when we visit the farm and pick the ingredients for when we make our chutney!
