This week in math year 1 have been looking at time! Yesterday we talked about analogue and digital clocks and what their differences are. We revisited time to the hour, and talked about how we can call it o’clock or we can write :00. We know that when it is on the hour, the minutes hand points to the 12 on an analogue clock. Today we looked at time to the half hour, which is a little bit tricky. We talked about how there are 60 minutes in an hour, and so half an hour is 30 minutes. We also looked at the analogue clock face and cut it in half to see that when it is on the half hour, the minute hand must be pointing to the 6. We know that we can write half past or :30. We practices making times on our clocks lots and then we practiced drawing the hands of our clocks in our math books.
