What a busy week it’s been in Year 2!
Earlier in the week, we took on the roles of detectives as we looked at our new class text for Shared Reading, The Flamingo Hotel. We used our magnifying glasses to look for any clues that might tell us about what will happen as we read further into the text. We came up with our own prediction based questions, and some of us then had a go at answering them ourselves! We have tried really hard to remember to use the correct punctuation for the sentence type, as well as including the use of ‘because’ to expand our answers even further.
In maths, we have started to look at multiplication. We first thought this might be quite tricky but we soon realised it’s just a faster way of adding the same number over and over again. We used cubes to look at the different groups that we can make, turning these into number sentences, looking at the relationship between addition and multiplication. We now know that multiplication is all about different groups of equal amounts. We’ve even learnt what the word commutative means! We know that this is when a number can appear either side of the function and give us the same answer, similar to addition based number sentences.
Well done for all of your hard work. I am very proud of all that you have achieved so far this year!
