Miss Coleman has given me this space to assure you that though we cannot have any physical contact during the present lockdown, Saint James’s is still here for you and your family. Every day at 5p.m. I celebrate the Mass for all your intentions and though there cannot be a congregation with me I have a real sense of union in prayer with everyone connected to the parish. On Sunday we stream the 10.30a.m. Mass – details of how to receive this will be found on the parish website.
Archbishop Wilson of Southwark has written something which I find helpful and commend to you: “Our Catholic faith offers the vital support we will need to cope with all that will unfold. We can sustain our life of prayer; turn to the Scriptures, the Rosary, to novenas and litanies, using Catholic social media and internet sourcesto keep connected in the communion of faith. I encourage every Catholic – individuals, couples and families – to create, if there is not one already present, a simple shrine in their home, with a crucifix and religious images, to provide a focus until that blessed day when we are able to gather in our churches once more”.
Every blessing to each of you in that “communion of faith”. Christopher Colven
Hello Everyone
Its Margaret here from St. James’s
Over the past few years I’ve had the privilege to get to know so many of you – through First Holy Communion at St James. Do you remember your classes? – and for many of you, your fantastic First Holy Communion Celebration . Maybe take some time to reflect with your family about that really special celebration – and for those of you currently in the First Holy Communion Class – we WILL be celebrating your first Holy Communion – but maybe not for the next few weeks. Rest assured when we do – it will be even more special. Do get your books out again and as Miss Coleman says – don’t hesitate to drop Fr Christopher or myself an email if we can help at all. It’s lovely to be in touch with you .
Dear Father Christopher,
I really enjoyed your live stream Mass today. I gathered with my siblings and we sat down to listen to you with our Bible and candle to pray along. It was a very peaceful time and I dearly wish to visit the church soon.
Yours Sincerely,
Maryana (a Y6 Pupil)
