I was really nervous but also excited to discover that I was going to be the Deputy Headteacher for the day! The night before the big day, I prepared myself by thinking about my new rule for the day and how I was going to spend the budget to make it fair for everyone.
My first task of the day was explaining my role to the parents and answering their questions! Additionally, I welcomed pupils at the school entrance and checked if anyone was late for the start of the day.
During my morning meeting with Mrs Duffy, I rehearsed my part for the whole school assembly and had a sneaky look at the Stars of the Week and the punctuality chart; it felt really good to know before anyone else! One of the best parts of the assembly was being able to invite children to the front of the hall for their superb behaviour; it was very challenging to choose because of their wonderful demeanour.
Next, it was time to spend my school budget. After much consideration I decided to buy speed agility training hurdles and two football goal target sheets. I hope it suits everyone and will be well used.
After a morning of hard work, I was excited about having a quick break in the staff room. My busy day continued with lesson observations of all the classes. My favourite lesson was in Year 4 because they were identifying how to achieve their goals and thinking about their future. I was very impressed with all of the lessons, everyone was engaged and interested.
After that, it was time for me to sample the school lunches and check that they were ready. I enjoyed the tasty chicken pasta. I think the rest of school enjoyed it as they all finished their lunches too.
Lastly I felt proud to award children on the sun with a shiny sticker! Overall I had a very fun day and I enjoyed working with Mrs Duffy. Thank you!
