These past few weeks Year 3 has been doing a lot of work with multiplication and division. We are learning about our 3, 4 and 8 times tables. We know that when we multiply we combine groups of equal value and when we divide we seperate a whole into equal pieces. Today we completed word problems in class and focused on our 8 times tables.
We practiced using number lines and skip counting, creating drawings and using counters to help us figure out our total for each problem. Our number lines helped us link multiplication with repeated addition to count up in 8s. Once we had solved each problem, we created multiplication sentences. We have been working so hard on division and multiplication and have really impressed our teacher!
I loved doing that with the counters! I hope we can do that again sometime! I also loved when Ruby-Mae and I borrowed from Sama and Rosa!
Well done Year 3! That looks like so much fun, and you’re all probably brilliant at multiplication as well!
I think the counters are helpful to learn math, it was fun using them! ๐งฎ
It was fun learning multiplication with the counters because they helped me not lose track of counting. IT WAS THE BEST LESSON EVER !!!
