Year 3 have continued to practise their recorder skills this term and have made some amazing progress!

Today the class put all of their hard work into a final performance of ‘Saddle BAG’ which used the notes B, A and G for the base of the tune. There were two parts to the song that blended together beautifully to create a very catchy tune.

Mr Hylton then introduced our next piece which is called ‘Tallis’ Canon’ by Thomas Tallis and was written in 1561! It is a renaissance piece written as a canon (similar to a round in singing). It has made different parts that we will play together in different groups. Before we could play it, we read and wrote down the notes for each part, ready for next week’s rehearsal.

Well done everyone! Mr Kersys, Mr Hylton, Miss Robertson and Miss Portugal are all very impressed with how wonderfully you played this week!

What was the trickiest part of learning your recorder pieces so far? How did you overcome these challenges?
