Over the past few weeks we have been studying ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. This witty yet poignant story is set in the Camp Green Lake juvenile detention centre. As Stanley Yelnats begins his sentence of digging holes in the desert, he learns of the secrets and deception that lie at the heart of the facility.
We have really enjoyed studying this award-winning book and have spent time exploring the complex characters, analysing Sachar’s use of speech and unpicking Sachar’s choice of descriptive language.
After studying the features of a non chronological report, this week we all wrote informative reports about the infamous ‘Yellow Spotted lizards’. Just the name of these creatures would send shivers down the spine of any Holes’ fan!
I really enjoyed writing my Non-Chronological Report!
