This half term, we’ve been studying Living Things and their Habitats, which includes looking at the life cycle of plants and animals. We learnt about plants that reproduce sexually versus plants that reproduce asexually and we decided to find out how long it would take for asexual plants to reproduce themselves. I managed to get the cuttings of three different asexual plants from a florist as well as strawberry and onion plants. We’ve acknowledged that this test can’t be 100% fair because we don’t know how old the plants are but in order to keep it as fair as possible, we’ve given the plants the same amount of water, kept them in the same location and kept them for the same amount of time. We haven’t finished with this investigation but we’d like to share with you how the plants are doing! It’s not easy to see in the pictures but there are shoots growing that will eventually reproduce into new plants!
